Designing a Better Knee Replacement System: How Exactech “clicked” with the Bal Spring Canted Coil Spring
By working with the Bal Seal Engineering team after several iterations of design, prototyping, test, and adjustment, Exactech achieved the design intent: to provide proper holding strength between the Topper and the Shim components, allowing surgeons to easily engage/disengage the components and adjust thickness during the trialing process while still giving sufficient holding strength to avoid unintentional separation.
